Take a moment to reflect on the intentions you set at the beginning of the year. How focused were you on taking the actions needed to achieve what was most important to you? Did you aim to advance your career? Did you invest in meaningful, reciprocal relationships that supported your goals, and step back from those that strained your mental health and well-being? Assess your progress. Perhaps you made significant strides in areas such as embracing public speaking or expanding your professional network. Or maybe you found it challenging to decline requests that didn’t align with your priorities. Reflect on these experiences and consider how they have shaped your journey this year.
Your calendar or planner is a snapshot of you prioritized your goals. Looking back, what does it reveal how you spent your time? The key to meaningful growth is being intentional with your time, energy and focus. Ask yourself: Did you approach this year with a clear sense of purpose? Were your actions aligned with the goals your set or were you easily distracted by time stealers?
I want to encourage you to consider the lessons you've learned this year, and start planning for a purpose-driven 2025. Here are a few tips to help you start:
Set Clear Goals: Write down your top three priorities for the new year-whether personal, professional or both. Be specific and actionable to avoid losing sight. Creating too many goals may cause you to become overwhelmed and lost focus.
Calendar with Purpose: Choose a day of the week to block off time for what matters most. Create calendar invites for self-care, cooking healthy meals, reading or anything you would like to accomplish for the week. If you fail to schedule it, there is a great possibility it will get overlooked.
Audit your image and brand. Ask yourself how your current appearance, behavior, and communication aligns with your current aspirations. What small changes can you make incrementally to elevate your social and professional net worth.
Identify key relationships: Focus on building meaningful connections that support who you are becoming and where you are going. Prioritize quality or quantity when it comes to your network.
Invest in Yourself: Growth can be uncomfortable but requires consistency. Consider hiring a coach to help you update your wardrobe, audit your resume and LinkedIn profile or get physically fit. Remember, the best investment you can make is in yourself.
